For AI Translator and AI Playground, MT credits are charged per llm tokens (one input token = 0.08 MT credit, output token = 0.3 MT credit). Typical Prompt without screenshots can be about 450 tokens = 42 MT credits.

On self-hosted instances, the MT credits only apply when using translators provided by Tolgee. You can alway provide your own API keys for AI Translators or regular translation providers.

Don’t worry—MT credit usage is minimal for most projects, so it rarely makes a noticeable difference to your bill.

A key is a single translatable string (e.g. a button label). If you exceed your included keys, additional keys are billed at pay-as-you-go rates shown in the detailed comparison.

AI customization allows you to specify your custom prompt and also project description and language level notes, so you get better results from the Tolgee AI Translator.
